Press Release 09-18-05Edson, Alberta, September 18, 2005
The TWE & PIAA-RSport Rally Team sprayed
Champagne from the winner's circle as the team secured it's third
consecutive overall win in the 2005 Western Canadian Rally
Championship (WCRC). The team won the Bighorn Rally held this past
weekend in Edson, Alberta, as the father and son team of driver
Scott Trinder and co-driver Bob "Twiz"
Trinder literally dominated the event, winning every stage and
finishing with a three minute margin of victory.
"This rally was really amazing, as the incredibly fast roads
demanded absolute concentration," said Scott. "There were many blind
crests taken flat out, yet they had slight jogs afterwards."
"The roads at this event were extremely fast and fun!" enthused Bob.
The TWE & PIAA-RSport Rally victory at Bighorn has also given the team
sufficient points to secure the 2005 Western Canadian Rally
Championship Overall.
"Winning the 2005 championship this early on in the season is
absolutely incredible," Scott said. "Frankly, we would not have
been able to run most of the events if it were not for the financial
and related support of our dedicated sponsors. On behalf of the
entire RSport Team, I would like to thank them all for their
generous support."
Meanwhile, the team will be running once again at the Pacific Forest
Rally in four weeks time. RSport Rally co-driver Bill Westhead
currently leads the co-drivers' championship in the WCRC and needs
to obtain more points in order to achieve his goal of winning the
2005 co-drivers' championship. Unfortunately, Bill had to miss the
Bighorn Rally due to other commitments.
The next event for the RSport Rally team is the Pacific Forest Rally
to be held in October 14th and 15th in Merritt, BC. This event will
be televised across Canada on the CHUM-TV network later this fall
season. Check you local listings in early November to see the
RSport Rally Team in action once again at the Pacific Forest Rally.
